Around the web

Hello! It has been a good week for the Zelda 3 hacking community, first and foremost on April 22th, GameMakr24 made a new diary update! He has even had the chance recently of taking part of an actual Zelda documentary! I won’t link his video here, instead I encourage you to go on his site directly!

If that wasn’t good enough, the day after that (on April 23th) MathOnNapkins made a confirmation on his Zelda Construction forum, that he was still working on Black Magic! (Thanks to Puzzledude for this news update!)

And finally when it comes to that faq I’m creating, I’ll probably divise it in multiple volumes, given that Black Magic is still in the works. The first volume will tackle with the Hyrule Magic editor, the second one will focus instead on Black Magic and the final one will be about hex data, asm, etc… (everything that is outside of those editors otherwise). That is unless Black Magic already comes prepacked with it’s guide, but we’ll see about that one in due time.

“An Eye for an Eye”

Started editing bosses…

It should be noted that recurring bosses will have different graphics! So in one dungeon that eye boss will be an eye and in another it will be something else!

Also some more while at it.

Kholdstare “core” is now an electrical anomaly instead of pinky fluffy marshmallow! I have yet to find what I’ll change the “Ice cube” gfx into, the ones that fall before you break his shell (which I’m clueless as what I’ll change it into as of yet)…

I’ll probably keep the eyes for most monsters and add goofy ones.. as most of Conker monsters have big eyes on them anyway!

**Yes I’m looking at you big green stacks of collectible money and cheese pieces!**

An hyrulian tale

Despite many criticisms towards Conker replacing Link and his story.. I’m still moving forward with my total conversion project. Now, let me reassure each and every one of you who were expecting to play Parallel Universes in its full glory that the total conversion in question “won’t eat up ” any of the parts I’ve created for Parallel Universes. That means that… every overworld area I’ve created, every dungeon I’ve created and all the graphics shown so far that were destined for the Parallel Universes project will all stay the same!

There will be some drastic changes yes, but not enough ones I’m afraid to ruin the gameplay for anyone that is going to play it or those that have been waiting to play it for years for that matter… Here’s three new mockups..

~Special thanks to Neil for finding out that new name!

~If that isn’t.. Gregg.. the grim reaper!

~A Conker game isn’t a Conker game without those trademark cartoony dialog bubbles!

You were right Smith, you were always right. It was inevitable.

I’ve recently start working on a better an enhanced guide to editing Zelda 3. Some of you are probably aware already, but I was known as Orochimaru back then. So that old zelda 3 faq (http://www.romhacking.net/documents/314/)  is from me, and since I haven’t updated it in like eight years, I thought it was about time to create a new version of it!

The last faq was called: Orochimaru’s Perfect Guide to Zelda 3 Hacking… now when I re-think about it, it was far from perfect at the time and also it wasn’t really my own guide, it was more a compilation of old boards messages from random people around the globe.

I’ve decided to rename it as: Orochimaru’s Zelda 3 Hacking Compendium!
Why keep the name Orochimaru on the cover of the guide, some would ask? Well let’s just say that like many book authors, I’m simply using a different pseudonym! If SePH is my romhacker’s name then Orochimaru has to undeniably be my writer’s name!

Speaking of that new zelda 3 hacking faq. I’ll include extended tutorial from many people along my own tutorials in it aswell. I’ll explain my way of editing the graphics schemes in details, like how I use the sprite sets for tilesets and other things I excel at! Here’s a few screens!

Also, after much consideration, Parallel Universes won’t be a sequel to Parallel Worlds. I’ve decided that all the work I’ve created for Parallel Universes so far will be used in a total conversion of the game into a sequel to Conker’s Bad Fur Day instead!

I’ve made a mockup title screen which describes best my total conversion idea (title name subject to change):
